Cyprus, the legendary
birthplace of Aphrodite, Goddess of love and beauty, is today an island of great
diversity, combining western bustle and eastern calm. It has a marvellous climate with an
average of 340 days of sunshine per year, fine beaches, vine-covered hill sides and
pinescented forests.
Visitors to Cyprus can bask on the sun-drenched beaches, swim in the dazlling blue sea in
the morning, and (between December and March) visit the snow covered Troodos mountains for
an afternoon's skiing. |

The island offers the
best of both worlds: Excellent cormopolitan restaurants and night-clubs, famous wines,
beaches where one can sail, windourf or water-ski and facilities for all kinds of sports
such as tennis and horse-riding. Alternatively one can visit quiet mountain villages,
seemingly untouched by the twentieth century. Furthermore, 28 hundred years of histoty and culture, have left
Cyprus a heritage rich in historical and artistic treasures -- Byzantine monasteries,
ruins of Greek and Roman monuments and Venetian castles. |
| Foreign reridents have
many reasons for choosing Cyprus as their base: Its strategic geographical position in the
Eastern Mediterranean means that all the major cities of Europe, the Middle East and North
Africa are just within a few hours flight. Living conditions are extremely pleasant and
relatively inexpensive. One can enjoy a high quality of life among friendly people most of
whom speak English and other languages. The
telecommunications system is excellent, offering direct dialling connection to most
countries and telex connections to all parts of the world. Cyprus enjoys an advanced legal
system based on the Britirh tradition and all other institutions are modelled on current
European standards. |
